Veldon Leon Burkhart, 76, of Clever, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 04, 2022.
Leon was born October 26, 1946, to Manford and Claudia (Stokes) Burkhart in Flemington, Missouri.
Leon worked and excelled at several different jobs over his life. Leon spent over 20 years as an OTR truck driver, a job he loved, and it took him all over the United States and into Mexico and Canada (one of his favorite places). Leon was an excellent mechanic and body man and he loved to build and drive a variety of cars. Leon grew up in and spent most of his life in different places around Missouri, except for a few years spent living in Dallas, Texas. For the past several years, Leon resided in the Nixa area with the last 2 years spent with his son Clint in Clever, Missouri.
Leon spent his leisure time fishing, going to auctions, and he loved to buy and sell items, which was one of his many passions. In Leon’s youth he raced cars and won many trophies which he always enjoyed telling the stories to anyone who cared to listen.
Leon is survived by his two sons Michael and Clint Burkhart, four siblings: Cora Lee Burkhart, Kay (Burkhart) Nevels, Marlan Burkhart, and Pat Burkhart; and three grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother.
There will be a Memorial Service at Whelchel Grace Funeral home in Forsyth from 11am to 1pm on Friday November 18.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in Helphrey Cemetery in Taneyville.
