Thomas Joseph Grafton Jr., known by family and friends as Tommy, passed away April 22, 2026, in Branson.
Tommy was born in Polk County, Iowa on February 5, 1967, to Thomas and Susan (Till) Grafton Sr. He grew up as an only child in Norwoodville, Iowa, attending primary school there before graduating from Waukee High School.
After graduating, he entered the Navy as a seaman aboard the aircraft carrier Reagan, where he advanced to Deck Supervisor. He honorably served on deployments to the Middle East and the Red Sea—places he found both challenging and quietly beautiful.
Following his time in the Navy, Tommy entered the shipping industry as an over-the-road truck driver, devoting long days to delivering goods across the United States. He later became an independent driver, guided by his strong work ethic and determination.
When he was off the road, Tommy enjoyed watching NASCAR and open-wheel racing, always rooting for his favorite drivers. He lived with a love for adventure, enjoyed working with his hands, and appreciated life’s simple pleasures.
Tommy was fiercely loyal and the kind of person who would show up when someone needed him. He was known for his hugs—genuine, grounding, and full of heart.
He was blessed not only by his parents, but also by strong and influential women in his life, including his great-grandmother Margaret Bell and grandmother Addie Marie, along with his grandparents Thomas and Virginia Grafton.
He leaves his lasting imprint on his mother, Susan Holt; his children, Mason Harestad, Jordan Harestad, Hannah Harestad, and Addielin Blumer; and his 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his father, Thomas Sr., and uncle, James Grafton.
No services are scheduled. Tommy’s wishes were to be laid to rest at sea, a place of peace and sanctuary.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel.
