Sharon Louise Braschler, 73, of Forsyth passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield from injuries sustained in an accidental fall on June 6th.
Sharon was born April 5, 1948 in Centralia, Illinois. Sharon and sweetie, Ray Braschler were married July 22, 1972 at Centralia. They spent most of their lives in the Centralia, Illinois area where Sharon worked for Miss Elaine’s Dress Factory for several years.
Sharon and Ray ran a pizza joint in Nashville called “The Village Pizza and Video,” and opened two more stores in surrounding towns. During this time, jokester Ray liked to remind Sharon that she worked for him, but we know who had who wrapped around their little finger.
Ray was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, and while Sharon was very much disenchanted with the creepy crawlers and critters, (probably due to spending her honeymoon in a tent), she dutifully followed her guy around to fish and camp.
The Braschlers moved to Forsyth in 2004 having vacationed previously in the Branson area and joining family.
Ray had the “Sharp Shop” knife sharpening business and Sharon worked at the Forsyth Country Mart. Ray had lots of health issues for several years, and she was an ever-present caregiver for him. Sharon lost her partner, Ray, in 2011 to complications from cancer and kidney failure.
In latter years, Sharon took on the role of hostess extraordinaire with not only the family meals, but also spearheading special occasion and holiday dinners for a large extended family, strays without a place to go, and many, many “cousins” whether blood or not. She excelled as a cook, taking great pride in her baking with pies and cakes galore.
Survivors include daughter Michelle (Donald) Collins, and son, Andy (Myka) Braschler, both of Forsyth. Sharon also leaves behind her 2 beloved grandsons, Brody and Jett Collins, and grand-daughter, Michelle (Justin) Ellis and son Kolton of Bolivar.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents, and one brother and one sister.
Arrangements are under the direction of Whelchel Grace Funeral Home of Forsyth.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 12 at the Collins residence in Forsyth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Association.
