Russell Calvin Burkhart, 88, Taneyville, MO
Russell Calvin Burkhart was born February 11, 1930, in Swan Creek, Mo., the son of Lee and Cora (Johnson) Burkhart.
Russell worked hard all his life. He cut timber, operated heavy equipment and farmed raising cattle while working for MoDot. After he retired, he continued to farm.
He loved his country, bluegrass and gospel music. He would sit for hours making tapes for all his friends and enjoyed going to McClurg on Monday nights. Russell always enjoyed kids and grandkids coming by on Sundays for dinner. He loved each and everyone of his kids and grandkids. Loved having friends stop by to visit.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma in 2017, infant son; 4 brothers, Roy, Earl, Manford, and Robert; 2 sisters, Mary Lee Baker and Hazel Peace.
Survivors include 4 children, Kathy Hunter of Ozark, Mo., David and wife Brenda, Nancy and husband Charles, and Rick and wife Shelia all of Taneyville, MO. ; 7 grandchildren; Michael Hunter and wife Susan of Pensacola, FL., Karla (Stiffler) Yeary and husband Gerald of Bradleyville, Greg Stiffler and wife Lisa of North Platte, NE., Melinda (Burkhart) Coulter and husband Billy of Taneyville, MO., Daniel Burkhart and wife Melinda of Forsyth, Tom Burkhart and wife Chelsie and Jason Burkhart both of Taneyvile, MO., 21 grandchildren and Step- grandchildren; 2 sisters, Geneva Young of Washington, and Virgie Schroder of Concord, CA., many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Wed., Dec. 12, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the Whelchel Grace Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thur. Dec. 13, at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to Helphrey Cemetery, P.O. Box 234, Taneyville, MO 65759.
