Roy "RoHo" Russell Combs

Roy Russell Combs, AKA “RoHo”, was born to Richard and Norma Combs in Bradleyville, Missouri June 1st, 1944, and took the hand of Jesus July 20, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Combs, of 47 years,  and his four children: Tracy Combs, Mike Combs and his wife Tammy, Kerry Kellett and Katie Hodges and husband Darin; Grandchildren Krystal Seely, Lacey Jasper, Lindsey Paige and husband Jordan, Paul Glebavicius, Kaylee Werth, Cassidy Werth, Junior Combs, Madison Combs, Olivia Almazan, Harleigh Hodges, and Caseigh Hodges; Great-grandchildren Oliver Paige and Saylor Paige—and coming soon, Hazel Mae; brother Steve Combs and wife Dee; sister Donna Newman and husband Todd and sister-in-law Linda Combs. 

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Norma Combs, sister Freida Boyd, brother-in-law Robert Boyd and brother Lonnie Combs.

Roy graduated from Bradleyville High School in 1962.  “Sure Shot” Combs, as he was known by his coach and teammates, helped the 1961-62 Eagles win the State Basketball Championship.  Because of this amazing achievement, he was twice inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, once with the championship team and once with his brothers, Lonnie and Steve, as part of the Filbert Five.  Roy was also featured on the cover of and within the book Hicks From the Sticks.

Roy worked hard his entire life, including being an iron worker with Fosco, and owned and operated a pallet mill with his Uncle Ted.  He owned a grocery and feed store in Bradleyville with his wife and in-laws, and then along with his brother, Lonnie, established Southern Construction in 1981 and worked as a Superintendent and Lineman until his retirement.  He served many years on the Taney County Sewer Board and was also an Advisory Board Member for Branson Bank.

RoHo was a loving husband and father.  He and Deboh were married in 1974 after a whirl wind eight-week courtship that began with a blind date, that they both tried to back out on twice.  They built an amazing life filled with adventure of over forty-seven years.  His biggest adventure was his four children, who always kept him on his toes and laughing or refereeing.

Roy also enjoyed his extensive gun collection and his many hunting adventures with his family and friends.  He also loved to travel and took many cruises and road trips.  Roy loved golfing and attending Hall of Fame dinners. Auctions and garage sales were hobbies he enjoyed.  When at home, RoHo loved a good western and his recliner. 

Roy was an active member of Hercules Church and was the official timekeeper for Pastor, David Easley.   Roy lived his life fiercely, serving and loving others.  His favorite way to tell you he loved you was…
