Neva Cram, formerly of Branson, MO, passed away October 3 at the age of 98.
Neva Mae Cram (nee DeJong) was born at home November 22, 1923, in New Sharon, IA. The daughter of Dutch farmers, she grew up in a large family of 6 brothers and 3 sisters and was educated in a one-room schoolhouse. As a young woman, she made her way through the Depression and World War II by working on the family farm, as a professional seamstress, and as a retail store clerk. It was at one of those stores she met her husband, Clarence Cram. Together, they worked side by side as owners of several small businesses for nearly 35 years. Upon retirement in 1975, Neva and Clarence moved to Branson, MO—a place they considered their true home.
Neva’s two greatest joys were her deep faith and her family. She lovingly raised three daughters while active in her church and community, serving as president of Ozark Mountain Hospice for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband. She is survived by her three daughters: Sheryl Sextro (Sioux City, IA), Diane Yates (Bluffton, SC) and Julie Quick (Dallas, TX); her sons-in-law: Bill Sextro, Carter Yates and Ingram Quick; four grandchildren: Patrick, Todd, Carter, and Caila; and two great-grandchildren: October and Grayson.
Neva will be laid to rest under the direction of Whelchel Grace Funeral Home in a private service.
