Megnona Simmons Obituary

Lifelong resident of Taney County, died with family at her side, at 11:05 am Thursday, May 2nd at the Timbers Assisted Living Community, Holts Summit, Missouri, from chronic illness.

Megnona was born in Springfield, Missouri October 3, 1944 and was the only child of Robert Fred and Norene (Thomas) Addington. She was a 1962 graduate of Forsyth High School. After graduating, she was united in marriage to William Ray Simmons on December 16, 1962. To this union, four children were born; Robert, Nicole, Bryan, and Shawna. 

Megnona was an accomplished Cardiac Nurse working in the Intensive Care, Critical Care, and Emergency Units for 13 years before retiring to purchase and operate Meg-A-Mart Convenience Store and Filling Station at the MO 76 / HWY 160 Junction.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Norene, and her ex-husband, William Simmons.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Robert and Donna Simmons, Holts Summit; Nicole and Danny Scott, Bunceton; Bryan and Becky Simmons, Marshfield; and Shawna and David Davidson, Castle Rock, Colorado; her eight grandchildren: Nicholas; Aubrey, Dana, Leah; Brenden, Bayley; Linus, Lily; her five great-grandchildren: Olivia, Thomas; Kimberlynn, Boone, Georgia; her Aunt Marguerite Workman; and many cousins decending from the Kissee, Thomas, Addington, and Davidson families.

Visitation will be held at the Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel on Saturday, May 11th from 4-6 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Kissee Mills Cemetery following cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kissee Mills Cemetery Fund in her name would be appreciated.
