Lillie Maroie (Carter) Porter, 97, of Branson, MO
Lillie Porter passed away on Tues. Nov. 13, 2018, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 19, 1921, in Jefferson, IA, daughter of James Roy and Lillie Mae (Coil) Carter. Lillie grew up near Slayton, MN. In 1974 Lillie retired and moved to Branson, MO., with her husband John. Lillie was a member of Branson United Methodist Church, Branson and Hollister Lions Club, Table Rock Extension Club, former board member of CAM (Christian Action Ministries), National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Purple Hat Society.
Survivors include children, Wayne A. Porter and wife Rose of Branson, MO., George J. Porter and wife Claudia of Greendale, WI., William E. Porter and wife Sandra of Menomonee Falls, WI., and Robert J. Porter of Milwaukee, WI.; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Irene Carter of Pipestone, MN.; brother, Roy Carl Carter and wife Laura of Slayton, MN., and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Porter; children, John A. Porter, Barbara L. Thomas; daughter-in-law, Gail Porter; granddaughters, Laurel Porter and Nicki Porter; great-grandson, Harry Levenson; siblings, Florence Johnson, William Calvin Carter, Earl Dean Carter, Moses Henry Carter, Herbert Dale Carter, Dorothy Mae Carter.
Funeral service will be held on Mon. Nov. 19, at Whelchel Grace Funeral Home, visitation at 1:00 PM till service time at 2:00 PM. Burial will be later at Almond Village Cemetery in Almond, WI. Memorial may be made to (Christian Action Ministries) CAM Food Pantry, 10726 Hwy 76, Ste E, Forsyth, MO 65653.
