Larry Anderson Obituary

Larry Ray Anderson, age 84, passed away on April 21, 2024, in his home in Forsyth, Missouri. He was born on November 24, 1939, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. In 1944, Larry was welcomed into a loving foster home where he was soon adopted by two wonderful parents, Bill and Hazel Anderson.

Larry grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Chesterfield Christian Church. There he met the love of his life, Kathern Hodson Anderson at the age of 5. Larry joined the Army and soon married his high school sweetheart, Kathern, on December 27, 1957. Larry was the loving father of Eddie Ray Anderson (deceased), Cindy Anderson King and Mark Anderson.

After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1960, Larry was employed for 13 years through Glazier’s Union Local 1075 at Forman and Ford in Des Moines, Iowa.

Larry and Kathern moved from Iowa to Colorado in 1977. Over the years, Larry faithfully served the Lord in various positions such as pastor, youth leader, and elder. He lived a life of evangelism by sharing the Gospel through personal relationships and tracts that he strategically placed and gave away everywhere he went.

He and Kathern started several businesses together including Woodland Glass, Anderson’s Bed and Breakfast, and Larry’s Home Maintenance.

Larry and Kathern (married 66 years) worked side by side in several adventurous jobs such as the Royal Gorge Scenic Railway and Buckskin Joe’s in Cañon City, Colorado, Hamilton Stores in Yellowstone National Park, Loving Christian Maternity Home in Wichita Falls, Texas, as well as various National Forest campgrounds in Colorado.

He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He touched numerous lives as he shared the love of the Lord Jesus Christ wherever he went. Larry was an avid student of end time Bible prophecy and was continually watching for the Lord’s soon return. His goal was to be kind to everyone, make them smile, and help people in any way that he could.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathern, one daughter: Cindy Anderson King, one son: Mark Anderson, five Grandsons: Michael Anderson, Tom (Evelyn) Anderson, David Anderson, Andrew (Stacey) King, and Steven King, four great grandchildren: Marley Anderson, Grayson Anderson, Jubilee King, and Levi King, one sister: Barbara (Raymond) Potter, three brothers: Robert Orr, Gary Thatcher, and Donald Thatcher. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends.
