John Baur Obituary

John J. Baur Jr., 90, of Kissee Mills, Missouri, passed away on May 3, 2026. He was born on August 10, 1935, in Dixon, Missouri, to John and Jessie Baur Sr. and lived a life marked by devotion to family, service, and quiet generosity.

John spent his early years in Dixon and attended elementary school there before moving on to graduate from Wyandotte High School. He continued his education at Jr. Baptist College and later at Southwest Missouri State, where he completed coursework toward a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

John served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, a time that called for courage, discipline, and sacrifice. After his military service, he worked for the railroad in the Texas and Oklahoma region as an investigator, where he handled a variety of theft and accident cases.

John was an avid fisherman and made use of any free time he had to visit a local fishing spot, where he enjoyed sharing his skill and his catch with family and friends. When he was not fishing, he could often be found working on woodworking projects, creating special mementos for himself and others. He also valued the fellowship he found among his brothers in the Masons, where he devoted time to worthy causes and enjoyed the bonds of friendship and service. Above all, he loved being in the company of his family, and those moments were among the most meaningful of his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Kay Baur; his parents, John and Jessie Baur Sr.; his son, Brad Baur; and his sister, Lila Hensley. He is survived by his sons, John Baur and his wife Molly, Steve Baur and his wife Maya, and Wallace “Wally” Baur and his wife Shamron; his grandchildren, Mason Baur, Coltin Baur, Cody Baur, Kyle Baur, Morgan Baur, Colin Baur, Dani Stuart, Dustin Baur, and Joseph Fischer; his great-grandchild, Lane Baur; and his brother, Mike Baur.
