Jessie Jane (Hires) Case, 89, of Taneyville, was born on a homestead farm to A.D. and Glessie (Hampton) Hires on July 30, 1930. She passed away June 26, 2020, having lived all her life on that farm.
She married Exie Case of Garrision May 15, 1948, and that union lasted 72 years, 1 month, 11 days, when Jessie was called home.
Jessie attended Helphrey Elementary School and graduated from Forsyth High School. Most of Jessie’s years were spent as a homemaker and being a caretaker for her Mother and Daddy in their last years. Jessie worked at Taneyville School for four years as a cook. Jessie and Exie also owned and operated C & C Grocery in Bradleyville with their daughter and son-in-law, Roy and Deb Combs for many years. They supplied groceries, feed, hardware, gas, sandwiches, and anything else people requested they could get. At one time she sewed bible covers from home. She loved to dress with bling and jewelry, was great with a crochet hook and her embroidery sewing machine and made the best chocolate pie. She was known as “Gigglin Gertie” on the CB Radio for many years and enjoyed camping, especially in the Colorado snow.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Exie Case, of the home, one daughter, Deborah and son-in-law Roy, of Taneyville, three granddaughters-Tracy, Kerry and Katie and her husband Darin and one grandson Mike and his wife Tammy. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
