Jessie Carter Obituary

Jessie Whitlock Carter, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 86. She was a native of Edinburgh, IN. She was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher, youth worker, prayer warrior, and spent much of her time in loving service to others for Christ. She cared deeply for people around her and made an impact on all who knew her. As a woman of faith, her life was a celebration of the immortality promised to all by Christ. She enters Heaven with many jewels in her crown.

Jessie is survived by her children, Arthur Carter and wife, Deborah, Cindy Harden and husband, Joey, James Carter Jr. and wife, Debbie, David Carter and wife, Kristie, and Rachelle Carter; brother, Frank Whitlock; sister, Carolyn Owens; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Jessie was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Devaul Carter, Sr.; parents, Owen and Rachel Gaddis Whitlock; brothers, Ernest, William, Robert, Douglas and Justin Whitlock; sisters, Joyce Everroad, Betty Streeval, and Kay Mitchell.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Woodville Baptist Church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Warren Whitaker II officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.
