It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Jeanette Collins, age 97. She passed away peacefully at her home in Cedar Creek Mo, on July 3rd, 2026. She was born January 24, 1929, in Longrun, Mo. to Orvil O.W. Wolfe and Leota Lo-the Noonkester Wolfe.
Helen attended grade school in Longrun, Mo. and would often recall early memories from that time. After school, Helen started working at the Garment Factory in Branson Mo. where she worked for twenty-four years. She was very proud of those years she worked out of the home and made many lifelong friendships.
On August 18, 1959, Helen married Joseph Collins, JR at Miami Ok. Helen and Jr have spent nearly sixty-seven years of marriage working on their farm in Cedar Creek Mo. Helen always made a large garden and put up many canned goods. When she was not tending to her garden, you might find her cutting cedar, sewing, crocheting or spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Jr & Helen were members of the Open Door Baptist Church of Cedar Creek Mo. for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Freda Herd Pride, three sisters and five brothers. Helen is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Collins Jr. of the home, her children Barbara (Ali) Sadeghpour, Madison, Wi., Joe Herd, Ozark, Mo, Duane (Glenda) Collins, Cedar Creek, Mo., Richard Collins, Cedar Creek, Mo, Teresa (Mark) McDowell, Cedar Creek, Mo. grandchildren, Joey, Lindy, Cory, Maryam, Angela, Wesley, Bobbie, Sarah, and Josh. Twenty-one great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and one sister Jean Herd, of KS.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1 PM, Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel. Pastor David Koenig will officiate. Burial will follow at the Coble Cemetery, Cedar Creek, Mo. Visitation will be at Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel Thursday, 12PM until service.
