Eugene “Gene” William Cummings, 88, of Forsyth, Missouri.
Eugene Cummings passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at his residence in Forsyth, with his family by his side. He was born April 15, 1931, one of eleven children, to Philip and Edna (Bilyeu) Cummings of Walnut Shade.
Gene was a lifelong resident of Forsyth, MO. He enjoyed horseback riding and was proud to have trained a champion quarter horse named Thirsty in 1954. Gene was owner of Gene Cummings Hauling company, driving a dump truck for over 30 years. He farmed, raising cattle, horses, pigs, and his beloved Beagles. He enjoyed the outdoors: trail-riding, fishing, hunting, mushrooming, cutting wood, and burning brush. He was a lifelong member of the Taney County Riding Club. He prepared the arena for rodeos, horse shows, and the Taney County Fair. Gene spent many hours listening to fiddle tunes.
Survivors include his wife Mina of Forsyth, children Dennis Cummings of Rockaway Beach, Donnie Goodall of Taneyville, Carla Jennings of Protem, Greg Cummings of Branson, and Sharon Dean of Forsyth; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister Iva Folck of Walnut Shade, and two brothers, Russell Cummings of Nixa, and Dallas Cummings of Walnut Shade.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Linda Matthews; five brothers, Melvin, Dewey, Mack, Philip Jr. and Milo Cummings; and two sisters, Anna Mae Wade and Mary Alice Cummings.
