Duward Earl Gale Jr, age 88 of Hollister, Missouri, passed away June 17, 2021. He was born May 4, 1933, in Hayti, Missouri. Duward was the son of the late Duward and Vergie Gale. He married Jessie Lucill Compton July 29, 1967. Jessie preceded him in death in 2016.
Duward graduated with a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He retired from the Pattonville School District near St. Louis, Missouri, where he taught math and science. After retirement he ran Gale’s Camp and Canoe Rental by Alley Spring, Missouri, where he loved meeting new people and reminiscing with people from years past.
In his younger years, Duward enjoyed going on road trips with his family where the Station Wagon was the motel (always). Later in life he enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, reading old Westerns, sudoku puzzles and reading his ever-present Bible. He was a people person and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his brother Norris Gale (Alexia) of Missouri and his sister Billye Bourland (James) of Arkansas; his children, Janean Wilke (Michael) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Jamie Corbin (Linn) of Springfield, Missouri; Earl Gale of Hollister, Missouri; Joanna Winters (Robert) of Versailles, Missouri; his grandchildren Brandon Wilke (Jenny) , Matthew Wilke, Diana Hale; Bethany Mahner (Donovan) , Duke Corbin, Emily Corbin (Kamynn Cummins); Ethan Gale (Madison) ; Douglas, Nicholas, Matthew Winters and many great-grandchildren.
