Donald Lee Light “Don” age 72 of Bradleyville Missouri passed away peacefully, in his home surrounded by his family and friends, Tuesday July 15,2025.
Don was born September 11,1952 in Joliet Illinois to the late Stanley Light and Ella Mae Light. He was married to the late Sharon K. (Carter) Light in 1983. In 2009, Don moved to Bradleyville, Missouri from Theodosia, Missouri to be closer to his family.
Don was a member of the Bradleyville Church of Christ. He was baptized in Little Beaver Creek on July 14, 2019, by Duffy Mooney. His church family was a very important part of his life. He didn’t ever like to miss church. He loved working at the church and helping in any way he could.
Don’s best friend was his little dog, Jessi. She will miss him dearly.
Don enjoyed being with his family. He loved watching his grandson, Blake grow up. He was a big part of his day. Don loved everyone in his neighborhood. He loved to watch out for them and always had a big story to tell them. He also loved to watch the birds and rabbits outside his home. Don will be missed by his family and friends. The joy he had in his heart will be missed forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Ella Mae Light (Hilton), his wife, Sharon K. (Carter) Light, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Don is survived by his daughter, Laura Melton and husband Ryan, one grandson Blake, three brothers and two sisters, Terry Light (Brenda), Stanley Light, Michelle Hendrick, Brenda Badcock all of Illinois and Richie Light of South Dakota.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mel Whittaker and Cheryl Hunter for helping care for Don until the very end. He loved you both dearly.
Funeral services will be held, July 21, 2025, at Bradleyville Church of Christ, with Duffy Mooney officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 pm with the funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Burial will be at the Bradleyville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a love offering may be made to the funeral home, Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, P.O. Box 425, Forsyth, Mo. 65653 for care of Donald Light or to the family.
