David Henry Veldman, age 69, passed away on December 12, 2025. He was born on October 18, 1956, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Richard and Shirley Veldman. David married Lesa Marie Broveak in 1988 in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they raised a son, David William Veldman who survive him. David also had a daughter Kari Ann Lindsey.
David was a mechanical guy, avid lover of anything with an engine and moving parts. Spending his entire life learning, repairing, buying and selling everything with wheels. Known for being “the guy” that could fix it. In 1994 David and family relocated to the Forsyth area where they embraced the small town pace and feel. He was a helping man always ready to lend a hand to solve any problem brought to him. Known for always wearing a smile and sharing laughter.
David will be remembered for his dedication to family, his appreciation for craftsmanship and mechanical ingenuity, and his enjoyment of simple living. David is survived by his brother Todd Veldman; sisters Barbara Thomas, Kathleen Cohen, and Donna Groenke; and his three beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Shirley Veldman; his brother Michael Veldman; and his sisters Joyce Ownby and Linda Wentland.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David’s memory to the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. 1100 Ave A, Ely, NV 89301.
