Dallas Flann Obituary

Dallas Flann, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, in Forsyth, Missouri, at the age of 81. Dallas was born to Ellsworth and Ruth (Hunter) Flann, the youngest of seven siblings, in Willmar, Minnesota.
Dallas grew up in Lake Lillian, Minnesota, where he attended elementary through high school before pursuing his passion for the sciences. He studied chemistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a field that would define his professional life. Dallas proudly served his country in the Air Force, a testament to his commitment to service and community.
After his military service, Dallas embarked on a fulfilling career as a Medical Technologist, working for a hospital in Olathe, Kansas, for twenty-five years. Later, he transitioned into microbiology department head for Labcorp where he continued professionally for an additional eleven years.
Dallas's personal life was as rich and rewarding as his professional one. He shared a beautiful marriage with his wife, Sharon, and together they raised a loving family. Their daughter Sarah and her husband Nathan Woodward of Forsyth, Missouri; Amy and her husband Jeff Soyez of Marion, Kansas; Rebecca Flann of Portland, Oregon; and son Jonathan and his wife Yvette Flann of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, are a testament to the legacy Dallas helped foster. He was a proud grandfather to Alex, Grant, Emma, Brody, Amelia, and Adeline, each of whom brought him immense joy. Dallas is also survived by his brother Douglas and his wife Alice Flann of South Carolina.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth, his brothers Duncan and Cyrus, and his sisters Marrielgien, Sharon, and Nancy.
Those who knew Dallas will remember him for his kind spirit and his love for storytelling. He had a gift for making every family gathering memorable with his tales and laughter. An avid golfer, Dallas enjoyed spending time on the greens and on Lake Taneycomo where he often "pretended" to fish, much to the amusement of his companions. His love for the outdoors extended to camping and canoeing adventures with Sharon, with whom he also shared a passion for travel, especially on cruises, exploring the waters they so loved together.
Dallas never missed an opportunity to engage in a heartfelt conversation over a meal Sharon had prepared, creating memories and stories that his family and friends will cherish forever.
