Carol Schleeter Obituary

Carol Jean Schleeter was born on November 16, 1948, in Escondido, California, and passed away on May 20, 2026, in Forsyth, Missouri. She was the daughter of Frank and Jeraldine (Wheeler) Robertson and spent many of her early years in the place where her story began.

Carol grew up in California and attended school in Sacramento. She later built a successful career in the California education system, working as a registrar for the Folsom Cordova School District at Mitchell Junior High. In that role, she brought both organization and kindness to the people around her, leaving a lasting impression on students, families, and coworkers alike as she helped to build and train others in the district in what was then a novel concept: using computers to keep the school records.

Carol had a vibrant, adventurous spirit and truly lived life on her own terms. She affectionately referred to herself as the “crazy hippie aunt,” a nickname that perfectly captured her free spirit, playful nature, and the joy she brought to others.

She loved a little excitement in life — whether it was a trip to the casino, a spontaneous outing, or setting off on some new adventure. She also found great joy in crafting, making special pieces for herself and thoughtful keepsakes for family and friends. Through those creations, she shared her love in a very personal way, leaving behind small treasures that will be cherished for years to come.

For more than twenty years, Carol made her home in southwest Missouri before recently settling in the Forsyth area to be closer to her son and his family. No matter where life took her, she remained true to herself — warm, spirited, independent, and full of life.

She was preceded in death in 2018 by her husband of 33 years Daryll, and previously by her 4 siblings, brothers Vernon, William (Billy) and Frank Robertson and sister Nancy.  She is survived by her daughter, Deborah, and her husband, John Baranowski; her son, George Burnash, and his wife, Margaret; her grandchildren, Joseph Burnash and Amber Burnash; as well as various nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her bold spirit, her sense of humor, her creativity, and the love she shared so freely. Her memory will live on in the stories told about her, in the keepsakes she made, and in the hearts of all who loved her.
