Billy Dwayne Cummings was born December 7, 1948, at Taneyville, Mo. to Burnis and Virginia Cummings. He attended Taneyville Elementary School and Forsyth High School from which he graduated. Billy served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Vacaville, California. Billy found one of his best friends, Rex Brandow, while at Travis Air Force Base. They had a special lifelong friendship.
He left Vacaville, California in 1974 and moved back to Taneyville where he met his adorable farm girl, Brenda Turner. They were married on March 31, in Brenda’s family farmhouse. Billy and Brenda had been married just shy of fifty years. To this union they were blessed with four beautiful children.
Bill had worked for the Continental Phone Co., from which he retired from, after thirty-one years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, both sets of grandparents, brother-in-law Gerald Wilson, nephew Matt Wilson, and a very special little girl Sami Jo Woodcock.
Billy is survived by his loving wife Brenda Cummings of the home; four children Tracey (Jeff) Shipley of Brown Branch, MO.; Missy (Tommy) Cummings of Sparta, MO.; Chris (Charity) Cummings of Garfield, AR; Shannon (Jennifer) Cummings of Sparta, MO.; fourteen grandchildren; Gabe, Kourtney, Gracie, Maddie, Chelsie, Brandon, Hanen, Brittany, Courtney, Casey, Logan, Dylan, Matt Dylan and Shania; thirteen great grandchildren; Jaxton, Breccan, Connor, Bronx, Natalie, Brody, Kaiya, Liam, Hudson, Houston, Christopher, Oliver and Levi, three brothers, Leonard, Raymond and Randall one sister Donetta, and Kameron Woodcock and Ashleey Sanchez. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, at the White River Association from 1PM until service time.
