Bill “Billy” Ross Sims, 85, of Taneyville, passed away Saturday May 29, 2021, at Cox Medical Center in Branson, from heart failure. Bill was born at the family home on November 12, 1935, to Charles F. and Gertrude Mae (Sullenger) Sims. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years, Shirley Ann (Braden) Sims, brothers Junior and Roger Sims and half-brother Rex David. Bill is survived by his brothers Milfred and Gary Sims; children Clarence and Candi Sims, Karen Sims, Mona and Rick Cope, and Daryl Sims; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Bill was a lifetime resident of Taney County. He was known to be a bit rough and rowdy in his youth. He loved guns, enjoyed doing his own reloading, and believed himself to be “the Great White Hunter”. He found joy in calling up and feeding “his” quail. Sometimes he had as many as 50 come to feed. Over the years, Bill was known to have picked fruit in Oregon, driven a Semi truck all across the US for Tri-State Trucking, farmed, owned a Saw Mill and cleared many acres of farmland across Eastern Taney County as a bulldozer operator.
Bill was “Papa Bill” to many children over the years as his wife, Granny Shirley, and daughter, Karen were/are both Home Day Care providers. Multiple generations of these children have loved to sit on his lap and check his shirt pocket for candy. Bill will be welcomed to heaven by his Lord and will be missed by many here on Earth.
Godspeed, Bill Sims.
